If you p**** up your ears you can just hear the drumroll and the sounds of a distant piper in the Fields of Lowther. The village awakes from its slumber and sends out a fanfare to the Gladiators of the Super Six. Only the strong and true come forward , tales of 2008 and the King Arthur slaying the mighty dragons of Murdoch are told by the children of the village. Of Merriment and much wine drunk in Golblets of Campagnolo by the Knights of Metro.

But fear is upon us ,we hear from faraway lands that the dragons of Murdoch will return armed with blades of carbon and a Hand of steel.

Step forward the Dragonslayers The 2009 Tour of Lowther awaits your mighty steeds

For all you softies the Tour of the Lowther now has additional facilities including Showers and changing rooms. This should satisfy AM of Musselburgh who complained bitterly about the hose with Watering can sprinkler set up over the washing line.

Broken branches rain dance in the whirlwinds on the mountain
Making ready the sodden arena
Potholes open wide ready to swallow the tired and weak
Snow clouds race from winter store
Great winds puff and blow on the Crawford plains, practicing an eerie tune only known to the men of the Echelon, fear is in the air.
The Mountain gets ready to rise to steepen any assault and fight back the invaders
Landslides scatter the path of the fearsome red carpet ride to Elvanfoot.
World and British champions come from Australia and all parts of England to challenge the great cycling clans of Scotland.

The Tour of Lowther awaits the brave and true.....

As last year we will be awarding a very special prize for both races in memory of Jason Macintyre who was the first person to enter our first edition of our race last year.

The award will be as last year for the most agressive rider in each race.

Last year Johan Museeuw kindly signed a framed poster of him winning Roubaix after we told him the story, special indeed.

This year we have something even more awesome.

Over a beer in the Flanders Museum in Oudenaarde we told the story of Jason to the great Freddy Maertens. He was so touched that he went home and rooted in his loft for something he could sign and he brought back the next day two posters of him in World Champs jersey and signed them. We are getting them framed and they will be very special prizes indeed. Top bloke.
