After a sunny Saturday, the 71 riders who started theNick Hardy Memorial faced cold wet conditions for the Monikie Park event. Through out various riders had chanced a break, but never made much more than a handful of seconds. Haviing been active throughout Andrew Leith (Dooleys RT) gat away with Peter Murdoch (East Kilbride). Going through Wellbank the couple had opened up a useful lead, with little concerted action from the bunch. On the drag back up to the park entrance, Leith puled away to take his first event. Especially please, not only for him, buy race organiser John Bremner who coached him through the Discovery Junior CC.

A number of riders were still hard to place, numbers hidden or badly placed, this despite a top being on display at signing on with numbers in place. Ideally, road race, two numbers, lower back, small 5cm gap. ERC riders could do with some practice or coaching in this, especially if coming across from other disciplines. One rider had one number on the front.

Please help the organisers to help you get your correct placing.

Great organisation, perfect place for a bike race and closed road finish. 3 degrees and pouring rain but very good bike handling on some slippy and fast corners, well done guys. The winner did hell of a ride as he towed the break back as well just before he jumped.
Glasgow Wheelers very aggressive today never stopped attacking from the gun well done guys, your club is back with a bang this year. Bisland and Miller would be proud.

Oh and NEG and photo finish as usual , brilliant!

Good result, I'm sure he'll be up there in the open cat races soon too.

It's good to see the juniors doing well and there are also some pretty decent youths out there as well, racing in Scotland is looking a bit healthier than a couple of years ago.

A bit healthier? With all the work with the Go-Ride clubs setting up and running, the future is very healthy.

Bit of an understatement there. Look at the age profile of racers and there is a big dip in the 20-35 year olds. The ones who should be at the top of their game.

The future is bright (and would be brighter still if we can get the law around road marshalling and so on sorted out properly)

"a bit" is Neil's way of saying "Very Much".

As in, we will only be doing "a bit" on tonight's training ride. Then I find myself getting home at midnight, with sore legs, but an intimate knowledge of every hill in Fife!

The future is indeed looking "a bit" brighter.

I can't agree with that, the first 10 in the last Super 6 apart from Dougie Young(19)? were aged between 20-35.

I'll stick with what I said,a bit healthier. Progress has been made but as things stand you still would struggle to hold a 'junior only' road race, the next few years might see that change.
