Fantastic result for David, and long overdue.
Does anyone else think the pros should be absolutely romping races like this? I'm thinking back to the Brian Smith and the Clarkes Contracts team era (97/98?) where the team were finishing 1,2,3,4 and scudded domestic events like this (and harder)on a regular basis? |

for all you know the endura guys were at the end of a big block of training so their legs were knackered in preparation for something more worthy of their effort. correct me if i'm wrong.
however (agreed) full time sponsored riders who focus on that sort of event would have no excuse not to skoosh it. if i'm right that it was a training race then they could probably gain more from doing some hours behind a motor bike.

can simulate the pace of a faster race than a scottish chipper

so you would rather see the full team behind a motorbike rather than race against scotlands finest amateurs. They can ride behind motorbikes during the week, nothing beats racing for training, and itswas one tough chipper. There not going to win every race and you will learn by your mistakes.

There was nothing "Chipper" about the race promoted by the Granite city this last weekend. It was a well run race open to all, on a good course and a challenging distance. It attracted an over subscribed field.
To suggest it was anything less is just rude and ignorant.

I'm sure Ali will be delighted with the votes of praise. Wonder why those who criticize have to hide behind a pseudonym. " Scottish Chipper " Quality field, decent distance, challenging circuit,a bit of cold and wind thrown in for good measure, Those in the break were just too good on the day and an excellent performance from Glasgow Wheelers. | Full time riders don't just give away races, there's a lot of talent coming through deserving of praise, this race looks like it was packed full of that talent. A race well won. |

The Enduras lost to Dave Smith (naturally talented with approx 5 yrs racing in France behind him) and young Robbie Hassan (naturally talented and going like a steam train!) - get over it!
The race featured a number of riders who have either donned the Scotland jersey before, won Scottish champs of various types and other hardened riders like Div 1 series winner Stuart Mac who push the 53x11 for fun! - definitely not a chipper.
Great event by Granite City, well done Ali and all the other helpers.

Scottish chipper, says who? Ah ye, its you again nae clue brea prime
a chipper, you have no idea, and what you do is disrespect all those riders
What it really shows is that the guys in Scotland are good riders with good fitness and can be competitive with the best.
The general level in Scotland is much higher than down south. Time and time again 1st and Es from the north east/ west come do our races and get hammered. This goes back to the probs with the national points cat system being applied in Scotland.
But for all those reading this, forget nae clue, he doesnˇ¦t know what he is talking about. What it shows is the Scottish guys, part timers and young riders can be competitive at a high level
And the vets too, I take you back to last years national RR
Stop knocking whats good here in our racing program
Like the majority say, Great to see Dave back in Scotland and winning, nice one, and to Robbie, dig in

Dignity and grace in defeat is at least as laudable as giving the amateur weekenders a doing. So fair play to the boys in black.
There's always some who will knock what's on their doorstep as being inferior, but it's apparent that there's a good crop of young guys coming through and the standard is better across the board, hence the reason the over 40s are finding it harder to be in the mix at the end. We'd be in a far worse place if vets were still winning every week.
There weren't that many top guys missing from Sunday's field, so the DL was Super Six standard, but too far north for the English guys. New circuit, new organiser and new promoting club - and it's been well received, which has to be a good thing.
Still, there'll be a dobber's trundle this weekend in Dumfries I believe. Sure the Scottish contingent will get a good wheelering there as well!

Was riding with juniors at the weekend (jack murray) 4 juniors in the break and they all worked there socks off Great! As has been made clear on this thread the DL was great event on a sporting course with all the best riders involved. I say hats of to the men in black they gave 100% to the race and that can only be good for the rest of us Vets. So if any of them are reading this go easy at leven!!!!!!!!!!! |
