This West Lothian Clarion's first open event as a club (we only founded last year) - it would be nice to get a strong field and I understand the SCU Hillclimb was meant to be on this day but has been postponed.

Road will almost certainly be closed to traffic.

Cheers,

Grant

Edit: BC have the closing date for entries wrong - it should be 3rd October, not Spetember.

Apparently the SCU have told our club secretary that the SCU hillclimb is NOT now going ahead.

It's not listed on the BC calendar either.

West Lothian Clarion are new club and we're trying to do our bit by organising our first event. If you like the bag pipes you'll be happy to hear there'll be a piper playing at the top of the climb
Er, hope that doesn't put you off!

Here is a wee photo of the nasty little climb

Its a short intense climb with plenty of room for spectators so we are hoping for a good turnout and atmosphere.

Good luck with the event - I wish I could be there. I remember the climb well as I used to live in one of the cottages at the top and cycled up there from school almost every day!

I sound like a right old codger now!

Rob

PS Is the road really going to be closed? How d'you manage that then?

Hopefully everyone will have a great day and please remember to bring along your race licence and if not you will have to purchase an SCU day licence for £10 which is the normal fee for this type of event. We will have all the appropriate paperwork for you on the day for signing if you have not already completed an entry form for the event.

As this is our first ever open event please pass on as much feed back as possible to all the officials so that we can learn from the vast experience of the field of riders participating in our first of many open events.

Look forward to meeting you all on the day and have a brilliant ride as I am sure you will enjoy the sound of the piper as you pass the finishing line.
