A full field of 80 riders started the Nick Hardy memoial road race based at Monikie Country park.

For the first lap the race stayed together before splitting on the climb from Newbiggin towards Monikie park. A group of 9 got away, but were never more than 40 seconds ahead. By the end of the second lap, the same group were together, with half the field having been left behind.

At Crombie mill only Barry Wilson (Spokes RT), Jamie Henderson (Spokes Rt) and Ciaran Dougherty (East Kilbride RC) remained ahead. With the riders taking the last left at Drunsturdy toll towards Monike, Comm 2 moved ahead as the gap dropped. On the last hill Wilson was dropped from the leading trio going straight through the back of what was left of the main field.

Finishing in 2 hours, Henderson took the spoils ahead of Dougherty with Brendan Milliken (Pedal Power) taking the bunch sprint.

It was nice to see d1ck and Barbara Hardy on hand once again to present the prizes in the race dedicated to their son Nick. RG McLean one of the riders who rode with Nick in the Carnoustie Cycling Club was on hand to present flowers to Mrs Hardy.

Thanks to the riders for behaving themselves, not one puncture! Great roads here!!

Well done to John Bremner and the ABC team for putting on the event, as well as help from the Dundee centre clubs.
